One week in, and the league already looks nothing like the projections. Chicago hung 59 on Carolina in the highest-scoring Week 1 game in NFL history. Detroit led New Orleans 21-0 and needed overtime to survive. The Chiefs leaned on the running game to win while Patrick Mahomes looked rusty. Nine teams cleared 30 points before Sunday night. And the injury list is long enough to reshape a lot of rosters: A.J. Brown to injured reserve, Sam Darnold's hip, Kyler Murray in concussion protocol, plus Zay Flowers, Ladd McConkey and Brian Thomas Jr. all worth watching this week.
Which makes this the waiver run that matters. The Week 2 wire is the most valuable of the season in most leagues, and claims process tonight or tomorrow morning depending on your settings. Then Week 2 opens Thursday at 8:15 p.m. ET with Lions at Bills in the new Highmark Stadium, so anyone rostering a Lion or a Bill has a lineup deadline before the weekend arrives.
